New study on dual-band electrochromic windows
The study “Energy saving potential of advanced dual-band electrochromic smart windows for office integration” examines the energy-saving and visual comfort potential of dual-band electrochromic glazing systems. The study included a real-scale analysis using advanced simulation tools to evaluate the windows’ efficiency and performance in office buildings. By considering both indoor and real-world conditions, the research provided insights into the thermal and energy behavior of the glazing systems.
Key findings include
- Energy Savings: Dual-band electrochromic windows, combined with intelligent control strategies, can reduce annual energy consumption for heating, cooling, and lighting by up to 27%
- Visual Comfort: These windows can reduce visual discomfort by up to 32%
- Performance Comparison: Advanced simulations compared dual-band electrochromic windows with static and dynamic glazing technologies under various European climate conditions and orientations
